Spring may be in season, but it’s a good time to be a horror fan.
While Sinners is slaying in theaters, the recently released Wolf Man has made its streaming debut on Peacock and Netflix has added a terrific indie horror flick called Talk To Me.
Those are just two of the best options available for horror fans at the moment, with more on the way in May including Heart Eyes.
If you’re looking for a few scares in the comfort of your own home, these are Watch With Us’ picks for the 7 best horror movies to watch right now.
'Wolf Man' (2025)
Universal’s latest reboot of The Wolf Man features Christopher Abbott in the lead as a writer named Blake Lovell. Unlike some previous incarnations, Wolf Man starts with Blake as a normal family man with a wife, Charlotte (Julia Garner), and a daughter, Ginger (Matilda Firth). Blake’s life didn’t even have a whiff of the supernatural save for a glimpse of a werewolf when he was a child three decades ago.
After returning to his hometown followng the death of his father, Grady (Sam Jaeger), Blake and his family are attacked by a werewolf that injuries him. It’s all Blake can do to keep Charlotte and Ginger out of the creature’s grasp even as his own transformation into a werewolf appears to be inevitable.
Wolf Man is streaming on Peacock.
'Talk To Me' (2023)
‘Talk To Me’ is an indie horror flick that finds some new ground in the genre. A group of young adults have come across an embalmed hand with a direct line to the spirit world. They also get an immense high if they let a spirit possess them within certain limits. Any possession lasting longer than 90 seconds can lead to some serious problems for the person holding the hand.
Mia (Sophie Wilde) knew all of that going in, and she still refused to break the connection when her best friend’s little brother, Riley (Joe Bird), asked for a chance with the hand. It was Mia’s only chance to reconcile with her late mother, but she may have doomed Riley to an early death or worse. Collectively, they broke the rules and there’s going to be Hell to pay.
Talk To Me is streaming on Netflix.
‘Heretic’ (2024)
After starring in countless rom-coms, Hugh Grant is having a late-career resurgence by embracing his dark side onscreen. Heretic may be Grant’s darkest role to date as he plays Mr. Reed, a reclusive man who lives an isolated life. Two LDS members, Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East), visit Reed’s cabin and attempt to share their passion for their religion.
Reed, however, has other ideas for the two young women. Once they’re trapped in his house of horrors, he intends to give them an unwilling education about his religious views. And they may never get a chance to tell anyone what happened to them at his hands.
Heretic is streaming on Max.
‘Barbarian’ (2022)
Sometimes, the best horror movies rely on surprise, and it wouldn’t be fair to spill Barbarian’s secrets to unsuspecting audience members beforehand. Writer-director Zach Cregger made a name for himself with this masterfully executed flick that starts out like a bad Airbnb nightmare and turns into something far worse.
Tess (Georgina Campbell) and Keith (Bill Skarsgård) are two strangers who find themselves double-booked at a rental home during stormy weather. They charitably decide to split the home for the night and they even seem to like each other. But things start to go terribly wrong just as soon as they become aware of what’s under the house.
Barbarian is streaming on Hulu.
‘Smile 2’ (2024)
Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) is one of the biggest pop stars in the world in Smile 2, but she’s just as vulnerable to the Smile entity as everyone else in the first Smile. When Skye witnesses the suicide of the entity’s previous victim, that makes her its next target. At first, Skye doesn’t realize what’s happening or why she keeps seeing people with unnerving smiles.
The entity just loves using the curse to drive people insane, and Skye’s meltdown is happening in a very public way. She can’t escape the spotlight of her own life, and her sanity is barely hanging on as the entity intends to finish her off just as it has with everyone who came before her.
Smile 2 is streaming on Prime Video
‘Late Night with the Devil’ (2023)
Jack Delroy (David Dastmalchian) would practically sell his soul for ratings in Late Night with the Devil, and in a way, he already has. In 1977, Jack is the host of his own talk show, and he’s got a very spooky Halloween theme going with some special guests, including a parapsychologist, June Ross-Mitchell (Laura Gordon), and her patient, Lilly D’Abo (Ingrid Torelli).
While Jack doesn’t necessarily believe in the idea that Lilly is possessed by something evil, she’ll eventually make a believer out of everyone. By exploiting her, Jack has unintentionally put the lives of his guests on the line and perhaps even his own. And this demon is just getting started.
Late Night with the Devil is streaming on Hulu.
‘Nosferatu’ (2024)
The original Nosferatu was a silent film that shamelessly ripped off Dracula. Robert Eggers’ remake of Nosferatu plays up the connections even further with an even more unsettling take on Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård), a vampire whose hideous true form doesn’t conform to the more popular romantic incarnations of the undead.
In the 19th century, Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp) inadvertently linked herself to Orlok when she was a child. Now that Ellen is an adult, Orlok fully intends to claim her as his own, regardless of her wishes or those of her husband, Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult).
Orlok has a way of bending humans to his will, and Ellen’s mind and desires are an open book to him. Albin Eberhart von Franz (Willem Dafoe) may be Ellen’s only hope of escape, and even his knowledge may not be enough to thwart Orlok’s plans.
Nosferatu is streaming on Peacock.
