Barry Keoghan has taken to social media to share snaps of him climbing the alps in a nod to the “journey” he has been on so far in life.
The Bafta award winner shared photos of him climbing Mont Blanc along with the caption: “Climbing Monte Bianco/mountains feels like a metaphor of the journey I have been on and where I continue to go…”
Keoghan is set to team up with David Lammy, British Secretary of State, and the British Foreign Office to front a new campaign to reform children’s social care.
In a video posted by David Lammy on X launching the campaign earlier this year, Keoghan said: “If we can change more than one kid’s life, that would be amazing.”
The Dubliner previously opened up about his childhood and said that going through 13 foster homes and the loss of his mother took a toll on him.
“That was a lot,” he said.
“As I got older and I had my own son, I realised that it was such hard work for her and my father, and luckily, there was a good care system there, which is massively important.”
When asked about growing up in care in Dublin, he said: “You don’t really get a perspective on that until you’re older.”
In the video, which shows David Lammy taking Keoghan to his office, the Irish star revealed he hopes the campaign will contribute to improving the care for children in big institutions.
“That’s what I hope we get from this, is to sort of reform that, and we can change more than one kid’s life, and aim to be impactful to a group, would be amazing,” he said.
“Anything got to do with kids in care I’m always wanting to help and shine a light on it and get attention to it.”
The Saltburn star will join Cillian Murphy in the new Peaky Blinders film which creator Steven Knight said is set during World War II. It is rumoured to be titled The Immortal Man. Other new faces joining Murphy on the film include Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth.
