Kristen Doute, founder of apparel brand James Mae, has parted ways with her infamous green dress. More than 10 years after she wore the frock in Season Three, Episode Seven of “Vanderpump Rules,” the reality star donated the dress to Andy Cohen on Wednesday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live!”
“I’m a different kind of crazy now,” Doute said, while gifting the television host what many fans of “Vanderpump Rules” refer to as Doute’s version of Princess Diana’s “revenge dress.”
“This is major,” Cohen said. “This is going to Bravo Con. This is traveling with us. This is ours to keep. This is history.”
Doute’s green dress has long been one of the most important pieces of clothing in Bravo history. The dress was even featured in the Museum of Broken Relationships in Los Angeles in 2017.
Doute wore the dress to pick up her belongings at her ex-boyfriend Tom Sandoval’s house in 2014. “She’s just doing that like, extremely cliché thing where it’s like, ‘Look good around your ex,’ but it’s like, you just see right through that,” Sandoval said, after seeing his ex in the green ensemble. He later added that Doute came to his house “dressed to the… nines.”

Later, Doute revealed that the dress was from Lulu’s, a California-based brand, and she was actually inspired by “Sex and the City” when choosing her outfit for that day.
“I had two things to shoot that day. One did not air,” Doute said on the “Brav Bros” podcast in May 2023. “So this was at the time where I had no friends. They brought back my friend Rachel O’Brien, who’s a comedian. She was on a few seasons with me. And Rachel and I were going to have what I was told was like a ‘Sex and the City’-type brunch, like dressed like ‘Sex and the City.’”
In December 2023, Doute rewore the green dress, sharing a picture on Instagram and comparing her look with her “The Valley” castmate Zack Wickham.
Doute is now engaged to Luke Broderick. They are expecting their first child in June 2025.
