Tate McRae has been accused of ‘ruining’ her burgeoning music career as she announces collaboration with controversial Morgan Wallen.
After rising to fame on TikTok with tracks like Greedy, Tate often went viral with her impressive dance moves and secured a spot as one to watch.
However, her latest collaboration has fans abandoning the 21-year-old artist as they express anger at her working with him due to his previous racist comment.
The country singer, 31, has previously been charged with a felony for reckless endangerment, stormed off Saturday Night Live, and been filmed using a racial slur – for which he apologised.
His language resulted in his music being dropped from radio stations, his then-label halting his contract indefinitely, and other country artists speaking out against him.
Fans of Tate were outspoken about their feelings about Morgan, angry at her for working with the Cowgirls singer, given his controversial history.

‘Tate McRae, when we said we wanted more collabs we meant with Olivia Rodrigo & that finished Tyla scrap, NOT Morgan Wallen,’ 2H4NDS wrote on X.
Boajupiter shared: ‘Just read that this is abt her collabing with Morgan Wallen way to ruin ur career before it even kicks off.’
Even a Tate fan account, Tate McRae Tour & Updates, shared a gif of a woman shrugging and shaking her head.
On her recent Instagram post, fans continued to share their disappointment with jtodddodd writing: ‘We were all rooting for you.’
‘Scrap the song. I’m so serious,’ added drayy_smith as not__pasta said: ‘It’s over for u girl, ur not beating the Raecist allegations.’

‘It feels tone-deaf. Like, is no one on your team thinking about how this reflects on you?’ added manuel.leventis.
Tate had originally teased the collaboration on April 15 by posting a picture of an orange jersey with his initials on her Instagram story.
She then confirmed on Discord that the collaboration was a song called What I Want on his upcoming album, aptly named I’m The Problem.
This will be Morgan’s first song to prominently feature a female artist, after frequently collaborating with Post Malone, Hardy, Ernest and Eric Church.
Post Malone, who recently released a track with Taylor Swift, has not attracted the same levels of criticism as Tate for his repeated work with Morgan.

Much of the controversy around Morgan started in 2021 when he was caught on camera yelling the n-word at a friend twice.
At the time, he was reportedly on a ’72-hour bender’ and said in a statement to E! News: ‘I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back.
‘There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologise for using the word. I promise to do better.’
He also posted a five-minute apology video on Instagram, in which he said people of colour had reached out and shared their experiences, which had a profound effect on him.
The year before, he had been kicked off SNL for not adhering to their Covid-19 protocols, saying he had some ‘growing’ to do.

It’s unclear if this was politically motivated, with Morgan steering clear of confirming if he is Republican or Democrat, although Rolling Stone previously claimed he was right-leaning.
In 2020 he was also thrown out of Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse for disorderly behaviour.
Morgan was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct after kicking glass and starting on other bar patrons. The charges were later dropped.
Then in 2024, he was charged with three felony counts and one misdemeanour after throwing a chair off a roof.
He was sentenced to two years’ probation and said: ‘I’m not proud of my behaviour, and I accept responsibility.’

Most recently, he made an abrupt exit from SNL on his second time returning after the Covid incident.
The Last Night singer was the musical guest but before the credits rolled, he walked straight off the stage, prompting confused looks from other cast members.
Morgan stayed long enough to salute the audience and give a light hug to the evening’s host Mikey Madison.
He then shared a cryptic post with his private jet, which read ‘Get me to God’s country’, sparking rumours of a falling out on set.
His representatives insisted there was no ill intent behind the exit and he enjoyed his time on the show.
Metro has reached out to representatives for Tate and Morgan.
