Michael O’Leary’s Gigginstown pedigree Angus sale turned into a money-spinner on Easter Saturday as all 42 cattle sold for a combined €213,150 – averaging €5,100 a head – at his farm in Co Westmeath.
Despite the Ryanair boss joking beforehand that he “hoped prices wouldn’t go mad” amid a boom in beef prices, strong bidding from a packed crowd and more than 10,000 online punters richly rewarded Gigginstown’s no-reserve policy.
