Lil Nas X has given an update on his health after he was rushed to hospital while suffering from partial facial paralysis.
The Old Town Road hitmaker, 26, has been gearing up to release his second album but shocked fans when he posted a video to Instagram.
From his hospital bed, Lil Nas – real name Montero Hill – demonstrated how the right side of his face was frozen and unable to move.
He has now shared a short update, showing that he was recovering well and beginning to be able to smile again.
‘I’ve been chewing a lot so I can get this muscle stronger,’ he said while chewing gum and filming himself in the mirror.
Lil Nas assured fans ‘it’s much better’ already, having previously been unable to laugh or move one side of his mouth.

He added that his left eye has to ‘play catch up’ and he is ‘still winking’ at people but overall he is improving.
The Industry Baby hitmaker continued: ‘I can give a genuine smile, so that’s good!’
Concern was sparked when he posted a video the day before from a hospital bed, sharing that he had ‘lost control’ of the right side of his face.
‘When I smile, this is me doing a full smile right now by the way… it’s like, what the f**k,’ he said, sounding upbeat in spite of his health crisis.

In the caption, he added: ‘Soooo lost control of the right side of my face.’
He hasn’t given any details about his condition or what could have sparked the facial paralysis but friends and fans sent him plenty of well wishes in the comments.

‘Get well baby,’ wrote Taraji P. Henson, while Wanda Sykes said: ‘Get well love. Sometimes your body tells you to sit down somewhere. Rest up.’
The band Garbage added that they were ‘sending love’ as fans sent heart and prayer hand emojis.
‘Guys, I am OK!! Stop being sad for me!’ Lil Nas wrote in an Instagram Story later. ‘Shake Ur ass for me instead!’
He continued: ‘Imma look funny for a lil but but that’s it 😭😭’
Facial paralysis can be caused by infection, injury, or a brain condition, usually when the nerves controlling your facial muscles are irritated or damaged.
The most common cause of one-sided facial paralysis is Bell’s Palsy, which is thought to be caused by a viral infection.
Recovery can take anywhere from three weeks to six months, with some patients never getting full motion in their face again.

Lil Nas first shot to fame in 2018 with Old Town Road, which became the longest-running number-one song in Billboard’s history at 19 weeks.
His debut album secured a Grammy nomination and spawned other chart hits like Montero (Call Me by Your Name), Industry Baby featuring Jack Harlow, and That’s What I Want.
The J Christ hitmaker has since won two Grammys along with numerous other music accolades, including VMAs and AMAs.
Just last month, Lil Nas dropped his first single, HOTBOXXXX, from his second album, Dreamboy, which is due out later this year.
He has also shared an EP called Days Before Dreamboy, featuring eight new songs.
